An Australian feminist activist & writer. Franklin came from a traditionally leftist background, with involvement in communist & trade union movements. She went on to become a prominent member of the Fellowship of Australian Writers.
Franklin was a founding member of the Australia First Movement, a pro Axis organisation that advocated collaboration with the Japanese. She attempted to use her influential position within the suffragette movement to recruit more women into the AFM.
She retired from politics following WW2. She died in 1954.
